Ten Amazing Music and Adventure Festivals in the Blue Ridge

Now that things have finally started warming up, festival season has begun. Whether you are into bluegrass or EDM, these gorgeous mountains we call home won’t leave you with a lackluster summer. Here are a few of the best music festivals to check out this Summer.

ROMP Festival / Owensboro, KY / June 26-29, 2019

Located on 150 acres in gorgeous Kentucky, ROMP festival is just what you need to kick off the Summer. If amazing music by Trampled By Turtles and The Wood Brothers, hiking trails, and a kids zone isn’t enough, you can wander over to the fishing lake to find your zen.

 

Bayou Boogaloo Music & Cajun Food Festival / Norfolk, VA / June 28-30, 2019

Who couldn’t use more crawfish in their life? Kick back and relax with the family as you eat the best Cajun cuisine around and listen to some funky tunes brought to you by JJ Grey and Mofro, Dumpstafunk, and more bluegrass greats!

4848 Festival / Snowshoe, WV / July 11-13, 2019

If you want to boogie down, this is the festival for you. Get groovy with music by Greensky Bluegrass, Lettuce and Nth Power all weekend long. Need a break from dancing? Grab the family and head for the zip line or take a dip in  Shavers Lake!

Floydfest / Floyd, VA / July 24-28, 2019

Nestled deep into the gorgeous rolling hills of Southern Virginia, Floydfest is the perfect place to get away and dance your heart out. With headliners like The String Cheese Incident and Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, you can bet that you’re going to have a great time. Need to take a break from jamming out? Floydfest also boasts hiking trails and a disc golf course!

The Peach Festival / Scranton, PA / July 25-28, 2019

Don’t let the name fool you, this isn’t your grandmother’s pie cook-off festival. Started by the Allman Brothers Band, this festival features Phil Lesh, Trey Anastasio and The String Cheese Incident and you better be ready to party, because it doesn’t stop there. Oh, and did I forget to mention that there is a water park on site? That’s right: lazy river, zipline, water slides, the works. Can you think of a better way to spend your weekend?

Lockn’ Festival / Arrington, VA / August 22-25, 2019

Located in the heart of Virginia, Lockn’ with have your dancing nonstop all weekend long with musical artists from the Tedeschi Trucks Band to Vulfpeck. When you need a break from dancing, take a stroll down Participation Row to find out what’s going on in your community and how you can get involved. Moon River Music Festival / Chattanooga, TN / September 7-8, 2019

This truly is a music festival for everyone. From amazing music performers like Jason Isbell and Brandi Carlile to rock climbing and guided kayak/SUP board adventures, everyone is going to have a blast. Not to mention all the awesome craft beer and local food you could ask for! This is an adventure you don’t want to miss.

Bristol Rhythm And Roots Reunion / Bristol, TN/VA / September 20-22, 2019

What a better way to spend a weekend than to be surrounded by the music our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains inspired! Located on the Tennessee/Virginia state line, you truly can be in two places at once! This amazing festival also hosts a family-friendly 5K run, Children’s Day and guided jam sessions!

Shakori Hills Festival / Silk Hope, NC / October 3-6, 2019

What happens when a non-profit community arts center and Grassroots Festival Organization come together? Go to Shakori Hills Festival and find out!! This family-friendly festival is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face when you experience their many dance and music workshops, yoga classes and even a family Cabaret!

Brewgrass Festival / Asheville, NC / October 27, 2019

Labeled Western North Carolinas original craft beer festival, the name says it all: Bluegrass music and local craft beer, what else could you possibly need? Going on its 22nd year running, this is a party you don’t want to skip.
